The UBC Association of Professors Emeriti (UBCAPE), established in 1987, represents retired UBC Academics, Librarians and Senior Academic Administrators. It is an independent organization that maintains close ties with the University, particularly through the offices of the Provost and Vice-President Academic and the Alumni Association.

UBCAPE currently serves more than 430 members. The Association's mission is to foster the relationship of emeritus Professors, Librarians, and Academic Administrators with each other and with UBC, to promote the interests and welfare of its members, and to collaborate with the University to utilize their intellectual and academic resources.

All UBC Emeriti Professors approved by Senate are eligible to become members of the Association. Emeriti from other universities may be elected to membership by application to the Association’s Executive. The Annual membership fee is currently $30.00. The membership fee is waived for the first full year of Emeritus status. We welcome new members. Please find more information on how to apply on our Membership page.


Governance of Association

A Board of Directors is elected each year at the APE Annual Meeting, usually held in April. The Board meets every month (September to May). A list of the current Board and Officers and their email addresses is available on this page. The members of the board manage Committees whose focus is to provide counsel on specific issues important to members (e.g., Membership, Continuing Scholarly Activity , Activities, Program, Communications) as well as a network of academic departmental representatives to provide links with all academic units across the campus.
